Valkeakoski is an ideal place for people keen on sports. In Valkeakoski, you can practice nearly all sports known in the Finnish sports culture. The majority of the sports services the town offers, are free of charge. There are over 160 registered indoor and outdoor sports places and 79 sports clubs in our town. In addition to clubs, the city also organises activities, such as swimming courses and keep-fit classes.

Valkeakoski is a well-known sports town. We are known specially for skiing and ballgames, but many other sports are gaining popularity.

- Children 5-17 years: 2,70 e, 10 times 24,00 e, 50 times 113,00 e
- Children 0-4 years: with an adult free of charge.
Series cards are valid 2 years. Card payment 5,00 e.
Pool area
There are two children’s pools and a 6-lane, 25 meters long deeper pool in the Valkeakoski swimming hall. There are two or three lanes reserved for those who swim distance; arrows show you the right swimming direction.
Please, help us keep the pool clean:
- don’t wear swimsuits in the shower or in the sauna
- wash your hair before going into the pool – or use a cap
- have a good wash before going into the pool.
The Gym
The swimming ticket includes the right to use the gym. However, the total time to have the locker key is still the same 2 hours. If you want to use only the gym without time limit, you can’t use the Swimming Hall lockers and the prices are only 2,90 e for children under 18 years and senior citizens or 4,50 e for adults.
In the winter, Korkeakangas Skiing Centre is the place, where you can enjoy cross country skiing. The ski season begins already in October-November and ends in April in the 1.5-2.5 km country skiing track, which is made of stock snow. Some other fine tracks you can find in the northern part of the town, in the area of Roukko/Eerola. During summertime, the tracks are available for jogging and walking in the nature.
The lights are switched off at 9.30 pm.

There are also numerous outdoor skating rinks in Valkeakoski, one just beside Wareena and others around the town. Skating outdoors is free of charge.
During winter 1.10. – 30.4. you can go ice swimming and use a sauna at Apia beach. The sauna is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. One visit costs 5 € or if you become a member of Apia ice swimmers, one visit costs 3,50 €.
