Guardians notify the need for a child’s special diet using an electronic special diet form. The food service can consult the school nurse or the health nurse at the child health clinic if necessary regarding the implementation of the diet. The nurse will contact the guardian if needed.
For children in early childhood education or pre-primary education, the information is automatically forwarded to the head of the early childhood education unit through the form. Guardians are asked to notify the class teacher about the special diets of students. If necessary, the form can also be printed and filled out by hand. The paper form can be sent by mail to the Timjami production kitchen.
For the following special diets, an up-to-date certificate written by a doctor is requested to be attached to the notification:
- Celiac disease
- Milk allergy
- Egg allergy
- Grain allergy
- Allergy with 5 or more foods to avoid
- Individual diet (list of allowed substances in use)
- Allergy that causes the risk of anaphylaxis
- Modified texture food for a child over 2 years old
For the following special diets, an up-to-date certificate written by a dietitian is requested to be attached to the notification:
- Vegan diet
- Safe food. In the implementation of safe foods, we follow the guidelines of the Pirkanmaa welfare area for safe food investigations.
For children under 1 year old, it is possible to order salt-free and soft food according to the guardian’s notification. For children under 2 years old, it is possible to order soft/spoonable food according to the guardian’s notification.
The certificate must be provided within 2 months of starting the preparation of the diet. You can add the certificate as an attachment to the electronic notification. You can also send the certificate later as a protected email to timjami@valkeakoski.fi or by mail to the Timjami production kitchen. Remember to include information about the child’s school/daycare in the attachments.
