Valkeakoski Lifelong Learning Centre offers a wide variety of courses for people of different ages, from children to senior citizens.
Our range of courses for adults includes languages, ICT, fine art, handicraft, dance, music and cooking courses, among others. We also offer public lectures on various topical issues. Open university courses are also arranged in cooperation with several Finnish universities.
Children and young people can study according to the basic national curriculum in dance, handicraft, creative writing as well as drama. The
Music School and the
Youth Art School offer more comprehensive studies in music and visual arts.
The Centre’s personnel training unit provides tailored courses for public and private sector clients in various fields, such as language training, management and leadership, customer service, information technology and arts and handicraft. We also arrange labor market training in cooperation with the labor office. All of our courses are planned in close cooperation with clients.
We also offer translation and interpreting services as well as National Language Certificate examinations in Finnish and English. Our facilities can be rented for various purposes, such as training courses or receptions.
Examples of courses at Valkeakoski Lifelong Learning Centre:
Social studies: education, genealogy, parenting, lectures on current issues such as social media, local politics, housing and living etc.
Languages: Finnish for foreigners, English, Swedish, German, French, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Hungarian, Estonian, Greek, Russian, Spanish
Arts: oil painting, graphic arts, watercolour painting, ceramics, porcelain painting, photography etc.
Handicraft: sewing, weaving, embroidery, lace-making, patchwork, textile dyeing, woodwork (furniture restoration, wood turning etc.)
Dance: jazz dance, flamenco, oriental dance, salsa, etc.
Course fees depend on the number of course hours.
Our main building is located at Kauppilankatu 2 (see
map). We have additional facilities in various parts of Valkeakoski and in Sääksmäki.
