Public libraries

The public library, the local gateway to knowledge, provides a basic condition for lifelong learning, independent decision-making and cultural development of the individual and the social groups. (UNESCO, Public Library Manifesto 1994)

Public libraries are open to everyone and provide free Internet access, information service and both printed and digital newspapers. We borrow books, periodicals, CD-ROMs, sound recordings, videos and DVDs.
